To Parents of Redwood Collegiate Career Academy and Sequoia Career Academy Students:

We are sending you a Household Income Date Collection Form with this letter. Please take the short amount of time to fill this out. It is vital to the financial health of our schools and our ability to conduct various programs. All of our funding from state and federal sources are dependent on the information from this form. Without it, we do not get concentrated funding for students through the State Local Control Funding Formula, which can reduce funding up to $2,000 per student. This is money that can go toward textbooks, technology, field trips, supplies, etc. Also, this form can qualify your student for other benefits such as fee waivers for SAT tests and college applications. Even if you think you do not qualify under the program, we still need to have the form filled out accurately to ensure funding.

This year, we are once again partnering with Willits Charter School to provide free breakfast and lunch for all students. There will now be improved food options, as these meals will be prepared daily at the Willits kitchen by their staff. Please remind your students that it is very important to order breakfasts or lunches only if wanted, since the school pays a fee per meal ordered, and we do not want to waste any funding. We will be posting the monthly schedule of lunch offerings on the website (caredwoods.org) and also in each classroom. There will be only one main food offering each day, so students should look at the menu to see if it is something they will not eat. All meals are peanut free. If you require a vegetarian or dairy free meal, please contact Terri Bollig. Meal counts will be taken at advisement time, only students who order lunch at that time will be able to have lunch at the designated time.

Part of this program is also to ensure that students eat a balanced meal, so students will be required in the case of lunches to choose at least one item from three different food groups and from two different food groups for breakfast. Breakfast will include cereal or oatmeal, juice, milk and fruit. Breakfast will be served in the Junior Building from 8:10-8:25 in the mornings. Please encourage your children to take advantage of these offerings as nutrition is very vital for academic success and emotional well-being. Any questions about the program please contact me.
